A budget South Indian restaurant located near South Campus is Guruprasad Udupi which we intrigued recently to fulfill our craving for South Indian food.
Running through many years and not changed at all is easily the best choice if you want a South Indian meal and the serene open atmosphere that has a generally casual air and is much appreciated since there are many options out there that fits the bill. You will enjoy entering the restaurant through a green corridor with a lovely yet minimalist decor.
You have an option from sitting in an open air or choosing the Air Conditioned dining hall with a child play area in the open air section. So you can enjoy your food in open air when Delhi’s weather is in a good mood :).
As far as food is concerned we have all South Indian options ranging from dosas, idlis, vadas, tomato rice, evergreen thali etc etc.. There is a big family dosa available if you are 8-10 people and wanna have some funtime.
We ordered Paper Masala Dosa, Evergreen thali and vadas. With every order you’ll get ample amount of mouth watering sambhar.
We loved the Paper Masala dosa, seems big in size but very thin and crunchy. You can relish this dosa with Tomato Chutney and Coconut Chutney as well. A 5/5 for this dish.
Vadas – An item that is instantly served on your table complemented with Sambhar, Tomato chutney and Coconut Chutney. Vadas were smooth and very tasty as Udupi is already a perfectionist in South Indian dishes. Again a 5/5 for this.
Evergreen thali is filled with dry Jimikand ki sabzi, Matar gravy, Korma gravy, Rasam, Sambhar, Tomato Fried rice, Kheer, curd and pooris. Korma gravy, Rasam, Tomato Fried rice, Sambhar and Kheer were very good but the rest were just ok, you eat them too so that you dont waste food. A 4/5 for this Thali.
We recommend you to prefer their dosas over thalis. Specially their Butter Masala Dosa is a must have.
