Extracted from the mesocorp(reddish pulp)from the famous palm trees of Malaysia is the newbie in town one must surely opt it in their lifestyle which not only relenquishes one’s living but makes it even more better by keeping the immune of the human body to tackle any disease and even makes it abruptly stronger than before and keeps the vitamin levels in the body stable enough as well.
Palm oil is naturally reddish in color because of a high beta cerotene content, it should not to be confused with palm kernel oil derived from the kernel of the same fruit or coconut oil derived from the kernel of the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). The differences are in colour and in saturated fat content: palm mesocarp oil is 49 percent saturated, while palm kernel oil and coconut oil are 81 percent and 86 percent saturated fats, respectively.
The whole seminar was conducted by the Ardor restaurant and was orchestrated by the Malaysian Palm Oil Council. All were made to sit and were briefed about the exceptional uses of the palm oil and how it benefits us and our lifestyle from inside out. We were told how profusely and vastly we can use the palm oil in end no. Of things and keep our health at the best.
Contributing significant calories as a source of fat, palm oil is a food staple in many cuisines. It is recognized as a wholesome and nutritious edible oil suitable for human consumption by CODEX Alimentarious. It has a balanced fatty acid composition, between its saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, and high content of vitamin E tocotrienols and tocopherols. Crude and red palm oil are also rich sources of pro-vitamin A carotenoids. It is also the most common cooking oil used throughout Asia and more than 300 scientific publications on palm oil in animals, cell cultures and human dietary intervention studies are available. In several human studies conducted by reputable research laboratories around the globe, scientists have found that palm oil consumption has a relatively neutral effect on blood cholesterol and shown to increase the “good” HDL-cholesterol.
With numerous information being circulated about the palm oil, there were even activities conducted through it, the first was the restaurant hopping activity. In this we were given places and activities, we had to hop onto the places and conduct the job given and then proceed for the other puzzle.
Our first place was the Pandey’s pan, there the crunch of the pan was made up of palm oil and then with this we proceeded to our next stop which was My bar, here we made a salad and dresses it with palm oil all over. And our third stop was Punjabi by Nature, here we had to solve a quiz and the last activity was conducted in ardor itself which was food testing. We were given Paneer butter masala which was made in palm oil and while tasting the paneer we had to tell what all constituted in that dish the very moment. Scores were given to each person or blogger teams and ours came out to acquire the thirds place.
It was a good experience attending this seminar and getting to know what is palm oil and how can it be used in several day to day dishes and how we can make it a habit to eat it in our food. It not only protects our environment but also give us people the benefit of the essential elements that the oil constitutes. We the Fussy Food Bloggers feel privileged to be called upon for this seminar and thank the Malaysian palm oil council for the same. All in all it was an astounding experience being there.
